Smart Stock Alerts Install on BigCommerce

From the marketplace to the first shopper on a list, in six steps.

Nothing to code and no theme file to edit. Install the app, answer the setup wizard, and the widget appears on your sold-out products.

  1. Install from the BigCommerce marketplace

    The app is installed from your BigCommerce control panel, like any marketplace app.

    1. Log in to your BigCommerce control panel.
    2. Open Apps, then Marketplace.
    3. Search for "Smart Stock Alerts" and open it.
    4. Click Install, review the permissions, then Confirm.
    What happens nextThe app syncs your product catalogue and inventory levels on its own and opens the setup wizard.

  2. Run the setup wizard

    A short wizard asks for the few things the app cannot guess.

    • Application settings: sender name, sender email, and whether emails should be limited to the quantity back in stock.
    • Widget settings: wording, colours and which fields the form asks for.
    • Storefronts: the channels the widget should be enabled on.
    Sender addressUse an address on a domain you own. Public providers such as Gmail or Yahoo cannot be authenticated for sending; the app will send from its shared address with replies going to you.

  3. Set the sender email

    Emails leave with your name on them. From Settings, then Notification:

    1. Enter the business email address restock emails should come from.
    2. Set the sender name shoppers will see.
    3. Choose whether to cap emails to the stock level.
    4. Pick or edit the email template.
    Domain authenticationFor the best inbox placement, authenticate your domain in Settings, then Domain authentication. The app gives you the DNS records to add; once they are live, emails are sent from your own address.

  4. Style the widget

    Make the form look like part of your theme, from Settings, then Widget:

    • Position: above or below the add-to-cart button, or a custom selector.
    • Colours matching your theme.
    • Button text and messages, per language.
    • The live preview shows every change as you make it.
    Worth doingOpen a few product pages of different types to check the widget sits well across your catalogue.

  5. Check the storefront

    The widget is installed on your storefront automatically when the wizard completes.

    • It appears on out-of-stock products and variants only.
    • No code to paste, no theme change.
    • The script is small and loads after the page.

  6. Test with a sold-out product

    Confirm the whole loop before your shoppers do.

    1. Open an out-of-stock product on your storefront.
    2. Check the form is visible.
    3. Sign up with a test email address.
    4. Check the confirmation message, then the new sign-up in your dashboard.
