Smart Stock Alerts is a BigCommerce marketplace app made by a small team of ecommerce developers. It does one job: turn "out of stock" into a waiting list, then into a sale.
Why it exists
Every store runs out of something. When it happens, the product page keeps its price, its photos and its reviews, and loses the only thing that matters: the button. Shoppers who land there leave, and most of them buy the same product somewhere else within the hour.
We built Smart Stock Alerts so that page has a second job. A short form takes the shopper's email, the app watches your inventory, and when the product is back, everyone who asked gets an email from your brand. The store learns what people want before reordering, and the shopper is not lost.
How it is built
The app installs from the BigCommerce marketplace and lives inside your control panel. It reads your catalogue and inventory through the BigCommerce API, keeps the waiting lists, and sends restock emails through SendGrid, from your own domain once you have authenticated it. Billing goes through Stripe. Nothing is added to your theme files: the widget is loaded as a script that only appears on sold-out products.
Stock is checked on a schedule that depends on your plan, from once a day on the trial to every hour on Premium, at the hours you choose and in your store's timezone. Every email is tracked for opens, clicks and the order that followed, so the dashboard shows what each restock brought in.
